As the awareness and impact of Nanotechnology grows in the industry not least for electronics, atomic-scale modeling is rapidly becoming a very important tool. Computer simulations are today used to predict, material and device properties, and constitute a valuable complement to experiments, which at the nanoscale become increasingly expensive and cumbersome.Scientist and engineers that early in their education have acquired skill within computation modeling will be very attractive on the job market in the future.

| QuantumWise software is used to model the electronic structure of molecules, crystals, and surfaces. It is distinguished by its unique capability to simulate electrical transport in nano-devices, and its ability to treat large-scale systems. The QuantumWise platform is based on an open architecture which integrates a powerful scripting language with a GUI platform. The software is actively used in a wide range of application areas such as: |
Molecular electronics |
Carbon nanotubes and Graphene |
Nanowires |
Computational material science |
Bulk and nanoscale semiconductors |
Surface electrochemistry |
Magnetic systems and spintronics |

| Introduction to Nanotechnology |
| Summary: |
| The scientific and technologic development recently brought about the emergence of nanotechnology, appointed today as the main factor for Industrial uprising. The development and refinement of nanotechnology has changed the reality of the production means and of the market dynamics, basically because it deeply modifies the use and performance of the materials involved in the nanoscale production and the qualification of the labor force involved in this production process. This talk describes fundamentals and applications of nanotechnology in Industry. We will give a brief overlook of market for Nanotechnology also. |
| Speaker Profile: |

| Nanoelectronics refer to the use of nanotechnology on electronic components, especially transistors. Term nanotechnology is generally defined as utilizing technology less than 100 nm in size. Nanoelectronics refer to transistor devices that are so small that inter-atomic interactions and quantum mechanical properties need to be studied extensively. Nanoelectronics are sometimes considered as disruptive technology because present candidates are significantly different from traditional transistors. Although all of these hold immense promises for the future, they are still under research and development stage. |
